Built for the desert lot behind the shop

The Traxxas Raptor R is the truck we hand to people who want a real Ford, not a generic shell. The licensed body is painted at the factory, the LED headlights and taillights work, and it clips on without body pins so it stays looking like the show truck on Roosevelt Street. Underneath is a proven 4X4 short-course chassis with the VXL-3s brushless system, which means it's fast on 2S and genuinely quick on 3S.

Why we stock it

• Runs out of the box on our lot. Add a battery and it drives. No building, no radio setup.
• 3S-capable brushless power. Velineon 3500 kV motor and waterproof VXL-3s ESC. Start on 2S, move to 3S when you're ready.
• Traxxas Stability Management. TSM keeps the truck straight on our slick West Valley dirt and pavement without slowing you down.
• Parts are on the wall. This chassis shares parts with the Slash 4X4 family, so the A-arms, driveshafts and tires you'll eventually need are almost always in stock in Goodyear.
• Waterproof electronics. Puddles, wet grass, the wash: fine.

What you still need

Battery and charger are sold separately. For a first truck we recommend a Traxxas 2S 5800mAh iD pack and an EZ-Peak Plus charger; if you already run 3S, a 5000mAh 3S iD pack gives it the full-speed personality. Bring the truck in and we'll set the gearing and Traxxas Link app profile for the battery you choose.

• 2S or 3S LiPo battery (iD connector) — Traxxas 3S 5000mAh is the sweet spot
• LiPo charger — Traxxas EZ-Peak or Spektrum S155

Skill level

Beginner-friendly on 2S with TSM on. Experienced drivers should go straight to 3S.
